Sanneh Foundation | Gala for Goals

The Sanneh Foundation is a local Minneapolis non-profit dedicated to improving the community through education, athletics, and well-being who reached out to us to help redesign their branding for their annual fundraising event, Gala For Goals.

Taking inspiration from the energetic designs from Latin America as well as recent campaigns for the World Cup and the Olympics, we wanted the campaign to feel celebratory, kinetic, victorious, and heroic.

The logotype we created uses a clean, easy-to-read geometric typeface that highlights the two important words (“gala” and “goals”) to help convey that this event is a bit more elegant and celebratory in nature.

The illustrative elements (the spheres and the lines) create a strong sense of energy within the campaign, especially when matched with the colorful palette we designed. The lines all come together to help meet at one point – a main goal. The lines all have different strokes and widths to help simulate the idea of a ribbon, such as one used in celebrations or with awards. The spheres add an extra element of space within the campaign, but are also a subtle nod to the Sanneh Foundation’s original focus on sports.

To create compositions for the Gala 4 Goals campaign, we drafted designs based entirely off of ratios of perfect circles, similar to the idea of the Fibonacci sequence/Golden Ratio that featured in so many famous pieces of art (as well as the ratio’s many occurrences in nature.) The circles helped create ratios that were pleasing to viewers and helped remind us of where the focal point of the composition is itself.

This campaign was an incredible adventure to work on and we wish The Sanneh Foundation the best of luck with their gala this year!
