Dog Days of Minnesota Summer

It’s a sure sign of the beginning of the end of summer when the Minnesota State Fair and the Renaissance Festival roll around. But don’t pack your shorts away just yet.  There are plenty of outdoor activities left to enjoy before the snow flies, so get out of the A/C and remember why we love and live in this fine state!

Between outdoor concerts, county fairs, hiking trails and sporting events, you should have no trouble finding ways to use up those vacation days.   Treat yourself, and your kids to a “skip day” if you have to.  The memories are worth the extra makeup time, later.

There are a ton of simple online resources to find a last-minute outing.  Here are a few ideas:

Of course fall ushers in prime time for apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and fall brewery & vineyard tours. Check out the links for the ones near you!

Get out the camera and capture the colors of fall on one of these great fall color tours!

It’s not too late to go camping!  Even one night away from the city can do wonders, and there are plenty of places within a short drive.  Find and reserve campsites online!

Have a ball and try foot golf! Foot golf is an exciting new sport where players kick a ball into an oversized cup in as few shots as possible. There are 21 foot golf courses across the state.

If you like flora and fauna, there is year-round outdoor fun at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the Como Zoo, the Minnesota Zoo, and the UofM Raptor Center.  And of course I’m partial myself to Fur-Ever Wild (I’m a volunteer!) where you can play with young wolf pups!

For the sports fans, there is still time to catch a Twins or St Paul Saints game, the new soccer team Minnesota United, and the first home regular season Vikings game, against the Packers is Sept 18!

Need more ideas? Check out this site for a comprehensive list of upcoming events.  There is something for everyone, so whatever you do, get outside and have some fun!

Lovely offering, thank you! Missing everyone at C+S, in fact, everyone in the Twin Cities. Go Vikings!
